BBLTP = Best BLT in Phoenix: The Main Ingredient

The Dish: Tenderbelly bacon, local tomato, sliced avocado, red onion, field greens, 10 & house-made chipotle mayo, on sourdough
The Place: The Main Ingredient
The Location: 2337 N. 7th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85006

The Main Ingredient was recommended by my friend, and an incredibly in-the-know millennial , Ms Linsey Goodwin.  At the top of the list of things I needed to try was the “best BLT ever” according to Linsey (a BLT connoisseur!).  So, how could we not give it a shot?  We found our way to 7th street & Sheridan in downtown Phoenix (about a mile north of Mcdowell on the east side of the road).  The moment you step foot in the door, the aroma of great cooking takes over your sense of smell and salivation glands.  The old wooden floors take you back to a time when phoenix buildings weren’t mass fabricated, rather built board by board and had a bit of a squeak and give to them.  Also, I never write about a bathrooms, but loved the sign, so much I had to take a picture! 😉

So, after glancing at the menu, which looked as though there were other great items on it, I order my BLT (let’s face it, anything with bacon you can’t go wrong with).  On this particular rainy day, I added the soup of the day, Chicken Tortilla soup.  I was so happy I did!  The soup was fantastic!  A cream based soup (which I love), had the perfect mixtures of flavors and deliciousness!  Next, starring me down on the plate was my “Best Ever BLT”, and this sandwich looked up to the part.  The thick slices of tenderbelly bacon along with the ripe local tomatoes, red onions and greens all flanked by two perfectly toasted priced of sourdough bread (which happens to be my favorite bread) with a house-made spread of chipotle mayo, was perfect!  I should have taken a picture of the clean white plate when I was done!

My hat goes off to Ms Goodwin for knowing her BLT’s!  My mouth is already salivating to get into The Main Ingredient and indulge once again in this beautiful crafted BLT!
