On Friday, December 3, FOUND:RE Contemporary and FOUND:RE Phoenix Hotel, located at 1100 North Central Avenue, debut their latest exhibitions — “FOCAL POINTS: Minimal VS Maximal” and “More is More: A Maximalism Exhibition.”

Both exhibitions will be showcased during a reception on Friday, December 3 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at FOUND:RE Contemporary — the freestanding art gallery located off Portland Street adjacent to FOUND:RE Phoenix Hotel, located at 1100 North Central Avenue.

“We’re extremely honored to present these two exhibitions in which the works of so many of our local artists are represented,” says FOUND:RE Contemporary Curator Audrey Galat. “It serves our mission to continue to present new exhibits that engage our art community and introduce new audiences to the incredible artists residing and creating masterpieces right here in Arizona.”

“FOCAL POINTS: Minimal VS Maximal,” is a group show presented with support by Artlink Inc. and features the work of 79 Arizona artists. The exhibition highlights a variety of imagery embodying the art movements of Minimalism or Maximalism. Featuring works ranging from the serene to the visually intense, the exhibition, on view throughout the entire ground floor of the FOUND:RE Phoenix Hotel, is presented as part of FOUND:RE Contemporary’s regular schedule of rotating exhibitions organized by Galat. The majority of works will be available for purchase; patrons can preview pieces online at foundrecontemporary.com.

Galat leads personal tours of “FOCAL POINTS: Minimal VS Maximal.” Tours can be reserved via www.eventbrite.com/e/foundre-art-tour-tickets-151706936531. This exhibition runs through March 26, 2022.

With participation in the exhibition, each featured artist has the opportunity to win a staycation at the FOUND:RE Phoenix Hotel. The winner for this exhibition is Katharine Leigh Simpson.

The second exhibition debuting on Friday, December 3 is “More is More: A Maximalism Exhibition,” featuring artists Bryson Bost, Stacy Neasham and Elissa Nowacki. Focusing on the excess of patterns, designs and detail in contemporary art, the exhibition contradicts the minimalism motto “less is more” and instead proposes that an overload of the visual senses enriches the art. From the intimate detail in Bost’s mixed media work to the consuming  and trace-like patterns in Neasham’s and Nowacki’s paintings, “More is More” is about the inescapable beauty maximalism offers the eye.

Guests may view this exhibition without appointment by stopping at the FOUND:RE Phoenix Hotel’s front desk from Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. This exhibition runs through January 29, 2022.

During the opening receptions for both exhibitions, featured cocktails from FOUND:RE Phoenix Hotel and MATCH Market & Bar’s Passport Series events are available for purchase. Guests may RSVP for the simultaneous opening receptions of “FOCAL POINTS: Minimal VS Maximal” via www.eventbrite.com/e/opening-focal-points-minimal-vs-maximal-tickets-207577197987 and “More is More: A Maximalism Exhibition” via www.eventbrite.com/e/opening-more-is-more-a-maximalism-exhibition-tickets-207589926057.
