I’ll eat healthy occasionally.

Just looking at that sentence makes me smile a bit. Given no consequences, I’d sit in front of the TV, binge-watching House of Cards and binge-eating jelly-beans. Unfortunately, there are consequences in life, so ‘I’ll eat healthy occasionally’ by necessity. It must taste good though. No, it must taste great!

Luckily, I live within walking or biking distance of the Tryst Café in the Desert Ridge area of North Phoenix. Tryst Café advertises itself as Phoenix’s choice for healthy, organic dining. While I’m sure that’s true, I choose to eat there often because it’s delicious! Combine terrific food with a wonderfully professional, down to earth (and mostly artistically tattooed) server staff, and you have a winner!

My favorite breakfast dish is the Tryst Benedict. Tryst takes two English muffins and layers them with two perfectly poached eggs, some fresh cooked spinach, tomato, buffalo mozzarella and a couple of slices of wonderful capicola ham. Those tasty ingredients are topped (in my case, I like it on the side) with a white Anaheim chili sauce and served alongside some sweet potato tots (these tots are a work of art!).

It’s the perfect breakfast. You get the sweetness of the tots, the salty ham, the creamy poached egg and the freshness of the mozzarella. It’s a breakfast symphony. All that great taste….and I get to tell people that I “ate healthy” for breakfast. Perfect!
