Today I took my mom and son to POMO Pizzeria to see what the montatura (that’s “hype” translated in Italian) was all about. Oh mio Dio (that’s “omg” translated)…everything we tried was heavenly. They “treat each pizza like a piece of art” and it shows! Pomo Pizzeria brings Napoli, Italy to the doorsteps of Arizona. Master Chef Matteo Schiavone takes his 30 years of experience making truly authentic Napoletana pizza to an insane level of creativity.

We tried two pizzas and a pasta dish and all three were delisioso. The Stozzapretti Alla Salsiccia is an ABSOLUTE must when you go. This pasta is hand-rolled daily and had my mom practically speechless…she absolutely loved every bite and insisted taking her leftovers home for later. I’m not entirely sure what all was in this dish because it hasn’t been officially added to the menu (therefore I can’t look it up), but write it down or save this article so you can order it!

Now for the pizza Napoletana…this process Chef Matteo Schiavone created is pure perfection! The dough had such a unique flavor it had my tastebuds trying to understand what it was all about (maybe its the pressed bricks and volcanic sand brought in from southern Italy). This dough was chewy (but not too chewy) and crispy and as they say on their website, you can (and should) eat it with a fork and knife “Italian style”. Their pizza is cerfied by the V.P.N. Verace Pizza Napoletana and the A.P.N. Associazione Pizzaiuoli Napoletani, both associations are based in Napoli, Italy.

I truly believe this is the best pizza in town…yes, better than Pizzeria Bianco . Please don’t take my word for it though, you really should go try out a few dishes for yourself!
