‘Gangnam Style’ Sushi

I found Gangnam Sushi after doing a Yelp search for Japanese food (I was in need of a tasty but inexpensive meal after a long day). Seeing that their happy hour menu featured food and drinks for only $1 to $6 made Gangnum an easy choice.

When we arrived, the restaurant was sparsely populated, but as the meal (and happy hour) went on, it started to fill up quickly, and we were glad that we went in when we did. Our servers were friendly and attentive, and we had our food within minutes of ordering.

Because the prices were so good, we pretty much tried everything on the happy hour menu (from the asparagus to the spicy tuna rolls), but the dish that stood apart for me was the miso soup ($1). The broth of this miso was to die for. If that was the only dish I had that night I would have been completely content. The soup had just enough seaweed and tofu to aide in balancing the saltiness of the rich broth.

Gangnam Sushi is officially my new favorite (Tempe) sushi spot. And even though it’s located near ASU, the crowd was very diverse. There were students, of course, but also couples, families, and business professionals.

Gangnam Sushi is open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. Friday-Saturday and 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday.
