A down-home traditional American restaurant recently opened its doors on the main drag of Scottsdale Road near Fashion Square and is serving comfort food with flair. Not only is the food good, but the beer taps change so often, you have to ask the server for their offerings.
The dish getting the most attention at Famous 48 is their Waffle Mac n Cheese served with cheese sauce. The kitchen cooks spiral pasta and cheese sauce in a waffle maker to create that perfect crust you look for on a good baked mac. This dish is offered as an appetizer, but I definitely chose it as an appetizer with extra cheese thank you very much.
My guest for the evening (I’m a vegetarian!) had the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich which featured a fried chicken breast with a crunchy exterior covered in a Nashville-style hot sauce and topped with pickles, lettuce and mayo. Each sandwich comes with a generous side of cole slaw, fries or Asian green beans.
We finished off our meal with a GINORMOUS chocolate chip skillet cookie topped with ice cream and chocolate sauce. Though the dish took a while to get to the table, the portion was very generous for even a shared appetizer and the fresh-baked cookie was worth the wait. Definitely do not skip dessert!
Though the restaurant just opened, it was pleasantly packed for a Saturday. There are always new places opening in Scottsdale, but this establishment is walking distance from Fashion Square, so try it out after your holiday shopping!

Famous 48 is open for lunch and dinner from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
