Some of the Best Food Bets when Social Distancing – North Valley

The Dish: Many in North Valley

The Location: Keep reading!

Many of us are practicing social distancing, or are limiting the amount of going out during the current COVID-19 virus pandemic.  I suggest my mantra of Exercise, Sanitize and Minimize Risk.  We need to stay healthy.  Take a walk, a bike ride, read that book that you planned to read “one of these days” or write the great American novel.  Dining for nutrition and pleasure, we are able to go out to the grocery stores, utilize delivery services and get take-out/carry-out/drive thru.

Señor Taco, 9510 W. Bell Rd, Sun City, has an efficient drive thru and great food.  No pandemic is stopping Taco Tuesday, but every day is good (don’t forget their silky homemade flan, which sells out daily).  (623) 972-3157

The Angry Crab Shack, 11340 W. Bell Rd., Surprise, will gladly pack up your fresh cooked gumbo, clam chowder, or sauced choice of seafood by the pound.  This week, they are even offering a special on Dungeness crab, normally $22/lb, now $15/lb.  They will deliver within a 5 mile radius of all locations or pick up curbside.   www.angrycrabshack.com

Mighty Moo’s, 11122 W Alabama Ave G3, Youngtown, an unassuming location in an quiet strip mall, will satisfy your sweet tooth with fresh made ice creams, like the unique “Leprechaun Trax”, Mounds, Salted Carmel Pecan Pie or some of the classic flavors, shakes and sundaes.  Personally, I devoured my chocolate peanut butter cone, but the Dole Pineapple shake also caught my eye.   www.mightymooicecream.com

We know that McDonalds, Taco Bell and other “fast food” options have this down to a science, but many businesses are not accustomed and going out of their way to adapt.  Check around your local area and give them a call.   Then call, email, or post on groups like NextDoor and let others know.  Let’s support our food service businesses.
