Here’s a loooooooong overdue article we’re sorry we didn’t get to a year ago!  Hand Cut Burgers & Chophouse located on the Scottsdale Waterfront on the east side of Nordstroms.

Hand Cut is delivering some truly spectacular culinary delights!  We had the pleasure of trying a number of dishes and we’re not disappointed by a single one!  On the menu for us that night?  Hand Cut Wings, Spinach Artichoke Dip, Beets & Buratta, the California Burger, Short Ribs Dip, Surf & Turf, Salt & Vinegar Fries, Cookie Dough Bread Pudding, and Salted Carmel Butter Cake.  Now understand this, that was very difficult not to add a number of different descriptors behind each dish, but it’s all coming below!

Where do we start???  Every dish and drink we experienced was truly something special.  We started with the Fig Fashioned from the signature cocktail list.  This drink features figs frozen in a ice ball with Bulliet Bourbon, Fig Preserves (in the ice ball), Maple Syrup, Balsamic & Fresh Orange Wedge.

If the description alone doesn’t get your mouth watering, the actual drink will.  Next, the Hand Cut Wings!  These are some of the best wings we have found in Arizona.  They were plump and seasoned to perfection.  Ryne is apparently a key to these awesome wings!  The Beets & Burrata didn’t disappoint either.  I can’t say that I’ve enjoyed a lot of beets in my lifetime, but this dish was one I’ll be ordering again for sure.

To round out the appetizers was the Spinach Artichoke Dip.  This was far from the typical cheesy creamy way you normally see spinach artichoke dip.  It was much lighter with an added twist we loved, raisins. Yes, raisins!  It was a perfect touch that had us eating just the dip by itself with our forks!

On to the main dishes we enjoyed.  The Arizona Grass Raised Beef burger called the Californian was made to perfection. This also was one of the best burgers we’ve had in a long time! The flavor combination will excite your mouth!

Next the Short Rib Dip with Red Wine Braised Short Rib, Cheddar and Creamy Horseradish Slaw on a Toasted Ciabatta bun. Again, made to perfection with this soft ciabatta bun!  Your taste buds will be dancing with this one too!

The Surf and Turf rounded off the main dishes with a filet that was incredibly close to perfection!  I love a steak you can cut with a fork!  Oh!  I can’t forget the dish I had to move away from me so I would stop eating it…Salt & Vinegar Fries!  I have a thing for anything vinegar so this was my Kryptonite!

These would be a perfect late night snack, lunch snack or dinner side dish ( think we covered all options) for sure!  My mouth is watering just thinking about them as I type!

Ok, on to the dessert.  We tried two that were out of this world dishes.  First was the Cookie Dough Bread Pudding, just the name gets me! This was even better the next day!

But I do have to say, this dish was treated a bit like the second child.  The second dish was the Salted Carmel Butter Cake.

Let me also be completely transparent.  I have only had one other Butter Cake in my life.  See God’s Twinkie article on Ocean Clubs famous dessert!  Though this Butter Cake wasn’t Ocean Clubs, it’s right up there in their orbit.  This cake was fantastic!!  We couldn’t stop eating it, even though we were ready to be rolled out!  If you have a sweet tooth and are in Old Town, we 100% recommend you go to Hand Cut to cure that ailment!

Also, Hand Cut has an incredible happy hour and even better Half Cut Tuesdays after 6pm! This menu changes each week which we love!!!  Hand Cut should have a line out the door on Half Cut night and quite frankly every night! Hands down one of our favorite spots in the east valley!
