National Pineapple and Mai Tai Days

Beat the heat this June as Hula’s Modern Tiki celebrates National Pineapple Day and National Mai Tai Day with tasty deals on all your favorite cooling tropical cocktails. First up on Wednesday, June 27, Hula’s is extending its Tiki Time Happy Hour to 3:30 – 10 pm, so you can pair $6 Island-style starters with $6 pineapple-spiked Tiki drinks such as the Painkiller, Dr. Funk, One-Eyed Pyrat, Zombie and Hawaii 5-O.

Next on Saturday, June 30, Hula’s is offering half-priced Hula’s Mai Tais from opening to close in honor of National Mai Tai Day. Famously strong and limey, like a Mai Tai is supposed to taste (vs. fruity and sugary), Hula’s Mai Tai is made with Appleton’s gold rum, orange curacao, pineapple & lime juice, orgeat (almond syrup) and dark rum.

Invented in 1940’s by ‘Trader’ Vic Bergeron, rumor has it that one of the first guests to try a Mai Tai just returned from a trip to Tahiti and exclaimed, “Maita’iroa ae!” or “The best!” in Tahitian. Today, this classic cocktail is recognized as one of the founding flavors of Tiki culture, and is honored with its own annual holiday on June 30 at Tiki bars and restaurants worldwide.

Finally, Hula’s will be open on the Fourth of July, and offering extending its Tiki Time Happy Hour from 3:30 to 10 pm to honor the holiday. Hula’s will be closed on Monday, July 2 to give the staff a proper holiday.
